A Word of Testimony

The Lord has led me into the third great adventure of my life. Previously, after serving as pastor of five different churches that spanned 22 years, God led me into a ministry of Bible distribution that lasted another 18 years.

Now, the Lord has led me to take another giant step. On October 1, 1994, my wife and I started our own ministry, incorporated under the name EDWIN L. HODGES MINISTRIES.

This move was made only after many months of prayer.

For over a year I had considered taking an early retirement in order to do some writing and produce Bible study materials for use in missions. Because we needed additional salary to supplement our retirement income, we prayed for God's direction.

After praying for about a year and not receiving an answer. I was getting a little concerned. But about the last week in August, 1994, the Lord started to speak and He did not stop for six weeks. It was like a magnificent obsession. From the time that I awoke in the morning until I went to bed at night the Lord spoke to me. I was never without pen and paper for the Lord was speaking constantly, sometimes giving me ideas as fast as I could write them down.

During those six weeks I called all over the country to pastors, publishers, translators, businessmen and others to see if they would work with me in the new ministry. All but one agreed to do exactly what I asked. As a result, I saw more cooperation between Christian groups, more spiritual unity, than I had seen in my entire life.

These have been exciting days. I know that this is God's will for my life.
